How to get from Widzew to the Center in 14 minutes
Marek here. At Cryptoreporter, I've been analyzing how our customers move around Łódź for 4 years. Every morning I see the same picture: the traffic on Rokicińska stretches to the horizon, and people in cars lose precious minutes of their lives. Meanwhile, the route from Widzew-Wschód to Galeria Łódzka on our bike takes exactly 14 minutes and 20 seconds, if you know the right shortcuts.
The Piłsudskiego trap and how to avoid it
Most people think the fastest way is straight along the W-Z route. That's a mistake that costs a lot of time at lights. The Marshals' intersection can stop a cyclist for two full light changes, adding 3 minutes to travel time. Seriously, we checked it with a stopwatch on November 12. Instead of pushing through the main artery, it's better to turn into Niciarniana right behind the Widzew stadium. Traffic is lighter there, and the surface allows for a steady pace without constant braking for pedestrians.
Our test showed that by bypassing main arteries through side streets, you save not only time but also nerves. On the route from Widzew, we currently have 13 Cryptoreporter stations, so you don't have to worry about nowhere to leave the bike. The most popular point at the Inwalidów roundabout is usually full at 7:45 AM, but you just need to ride 214 meters further to find a free rack without any queue. It's simple math that really changes your morning.
The intersection at the Marshals is a 3-minute loss. We bypass it via Niciarniana.

Shortcut through Park nad Jasieniem
Few people know that the ride through Park nad Jasieniem is the fastest option to get near Księży Młyn. The path there is 2.8 meters wide and very well lit, which matters on November mornings. Crossing the park takes about 4 minutes, and you bypass the whole mess at the Kopcińskiego viaduct. Cars are standing both ways there, while you just ride past them, feeling fresh air instead of exhaust fumes from an old diesel tailpipe.
In July 2024, we measured that the average cyclist speed on this section is 19 km/h. That's enough to cover the entire route from Widzew to the center in less time than a 10B tram during rush hour. Importantly, the park route is almost completely flat. You won't sweat like in a gym, so you can calmly go straight to the office at Piotrkowska 102 without needing a shower. A bike ready in a minute awaits you at the start.

City card and a quick start
At Cryptoreporter, we focus on simplicity. You don't have to download heavy apps if you have a Łódź Migawka in your wallet. You approach the terminal at station number 47 near the Widzew station, tap the card, and the lock releases in 3.2 seconds. This solution has already saved many mornings for our 83 regular users from this district. You pay and go, without unnecessary clicking on a phone in the cold or rain.
If you prefer a phone, our contactless payment system works just as efficiently. An active account and a linked card are enough. We don't require 50 PLN deposits like other companies. With us, you pay for actual riding time. The average cost of the Widzew-Center route is about 4.20 PLN – roughly the same as a 20-minute ticket, which won't get you there in 14 minutes anyway due to all the renovations on Kilińskiego.
Tap your Migawka and the lock releases in 3 seconds. Without unnecessary clicking.

Practical advice for bad weather
November in Łódź can be capricious. Mud on Tuwima is normal, which is why our bikes have full fenders that really protect your pants. We checked this on 47 different test routes last year. If you're afraid of rain, remember that most of the Widzew route leads under trees or near buildings that provide some shelter from the wind. The worst section is the open space by the stadium, but that's only 480 meters of intense pedaling.
Honestly, we aren't the cheapest option on the market if you count every penny. But our bikes are serviced every 11 days by a team of 4 mechanics, so you can be sure the brakes will work and the chain won't fall off on the viaduct climb. Recently, one customer, Mr. Janusz from Czajkowskiego Street, wrote to us that thanks to a functional shifter, he rode up the hill at Kopcińskiego without losing breath. These are the small details that make a difference when you're rushing to a 9:00 AM meeting.

Route summary – numbers don't lie
Let's add it up. Car from Widzew to the Center in the morning: 27-35 minutes. Tram: 22 minutes (plus walk to the stop). Cryptoreporter bike: 14 minutes and 20 seconds. The choice seems obvious if you respect your time. Our map of 47 points across the city allows for great flexibility. You can leave the bike right at the gate on Piotrkowska and go straight to work. No searching for parking for another 8 minutes and paying the parking meter.
I invite you to test this route tomorrow morning. If you don't make it in 18 minutes (I'm giving 4 minutes allowance for a slower pace), write to me at [email protected] – I'll gladly analyze your ride and suggest where you can shave off a few more seconds. Skip the traffic on Piotrkowska and start your day without stress. See you on the path!
